October 10, 2008 11:41 PMGay Post # 7: Connecticut Legalizes Gay Marriage
October 10th, 2008: Connecticut becomes the third state to overturn a marriage ban and legalize gay marriage. In a court case where the ruling was 5-4, the Supreme Court justices of the state argued that denying couples the equal rights offered under marriage because of the way they were born was bigotry. Now, there are three states who recognize being born homosexual doesn't make one a deviant, but rather a productive member of society who deserves the same rights as any others. Yay :)
October 9, 2008 05:53 PMGay Post # 6: Proposition 8
Proposition 8 is a law that would ban gay marriage in California; this is on the heels of a Supreme Court decision that previously overthrew a state decision that had barred gays and lesbians from enjoying equal rights within this country. Supporters of Proposition 8 are releasing various videos that attack the idea of gays and lesbians having relationships that are worth protecting. I would love one day to have a conversation with someone and ask them if they knew anyone who had gotten a divorce. If they thought that those people deserved to have their ability to get married again questioned, because divorce definitely doesn't protect the sanctity of marriage.
My fear is that this law will pass. In California, of all states. It makes me hurt. After the cut is one of the "support" videos for the cause. A little girl plays with a Ken and Barbie doll and has them get married. "Marriage, it's that simple." is what it reads.
October 5, 2008 12:30 PMLGBT Month: Day 3. Oh and FU Sarah Palin.
Sarah Palin says she's a friend to the gays. She even supports all the "life choices" they made when they decided to become a minority. But apparently, the LGBT citizens of Alaksa don't seem to share Palin's love. WTF? She supports your "choice" guys. Gays are just so greedy.
