2009 in Song (and Video) Part 1

I wasn't going to... but then I was jamming out to "Angels" this morning, which honestly was a pretty great song that got little airplay. SO I thought to self, "Self, you should just cave and do a post about your favorite songs this past year." And so, here we go. First up: P.Diddy's "Angels" featuring Notorious B.I.G. and Dirty Money, Dan Black's "Symphonies", Phoenix's "1901" and Drake's "Best I Ever Had".

Timbaland's "Lose Control" featuring JoJo, Glee Cast singing "Jump", Alicia Keys' "Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart", and Lady GaGa's "Bad Romance"

December 31, 2009 06:18 PM So long 2009

In a perfect world, I would have made a post with stuff about this year.. or hell this decade. But so many other blogs did already. I could also write about the Holiday of New Years... but instead I'll say that this is one of my least favorite holidays, right up there with Valentine's Day. I just never got the big deal. It's totally an amateur night for drinking: people who hardly ever party feel the need to go out and get wasted on this night... all at once. So you have to deal with that crap on the roads. Bars are packed with these drunken idiots who can't control their liquor and if you go to a bar, you are sort of stuck there, mulling about until the big event at New Years and then what? It's like this huge build up and then nothing. Bon Voyage, time to go home. It's just a waste. I like hanging out at home, with friends, doing activities we would normally do, saving money and enjoying myself. Everything else is a waste of fucking time. And that's my feeling on New Years Eve. But hey, Happy 2010 ;D

December 29, 2009 10:20 AM Today, in Gay News

If you haven't been paying attention, 20 more days until gays can legally get married in Washington DC. That means 20 more days for Congress to avoid taking up this bill and trying to squash legalization of equality. Of course, a Republican Senator from Utah is trying to drum up support to overturn this bill. What's funny is that this man's father is actually a gay activist who released a book that said gay couples are just as swell and stable as straight couples. They must have had a great Christmas conversation this year, yes?

However, on a less anxiety ridden note: yesterday a marriage ceremony was performed in Argentina. While not legal in the entire country, the Supreme Court has stated that they are pretty much leaving this decision up to the individual states and cities. So while the couple failed to tie the not in Buenes Aires, they were able to travel down to Tierra del Fuego and made this marriage official. So they join Mexico City in recognizing marriage equality. It's great when religious, Catholic areas are willing to hand us our rights... and the land of the Free is lagging behind.

Of course, we still have that law in Uganda looming that would criminalize homosexuality, with punishments including death.

A Malawi couple symbolically got married to oppose their country's criminalization of the gay. Now they might be facing jail time.

And I leave you with Ash's "True Love 1980". The gay is the end, my friends, the end.
