August 14, 2010 05:40 PM What lays ahead this week?

The 18th would be the final day for the stay. So officially this Wednesday, we might be back to having six states (and our capitol) marrying gays. I wish I could say where our next victory might lie. There seems to be some hope that we a victory can be pulled out in the Jersey Courts, but they hit a roadblock a few weeks ago. Movement in Minnesota, but there would need to be a veto override similar to what happened in New Hampshire to overcome their governor there. Could the tide slide up into Oregon? That would be interesting. Perhaps there might be some movement finally in Rhode Island?

August 12, 2010 07:14 PM California!

It's still coming around the corner. Just a little slower. Today Judge Walker indeed lifted his stay... but stayed his anti-stay until next Wednesday. Gays were able to get their papers, at least today. Soon we will have six. Two years ago, there was two. Times are changing.

August 11, 2010 04:28 PM CNN Poll

CNN Released a poll: It seems that, for the first time, we actually have a majority that would support marriage equality. It's a single poll, but this would be the first nationwide one I've ever seen where it swung our way. Is our tide changing?

Bigots.

From the American Family Association, known to me for their biased feelings on marriage equality: "Permits should not be granted to build even one more mosque in the United States of America, let alone the monstrosity planned for Ground Zero. This is for one simple reason: each Islamic mosque is dedicated to the overthrow of the American government. Each one is a potential jihadist recruitment and training center, and determined to implement the 'Grand Jihad' of which Andy McCarthy has written.

"Because of this subversive ideology, Muslims cannot claim religious freedom protections under the First Amendment. They are currently using First Amendment freedoms to make plans to destroy the First Amendment altogether. There is no such thing as freedom of religion in Islam, and it is sheer and utter folly for Americans to delude themselves into thinking otherwise." - AFA radio host Bryan Fischer.

August 10, 2010 07:38 PM I am crying again.

It seems I cannot go for one week this summer without finding something that makes me so overwhelmed with hope and joy that I end up sitting in front of a monitor and crying. Seriously, between Portugal finally going through the legalization process, Iceland coming out of nowhere with their vote, Argentina showing how much they are moving beyond their past, and now two courts upholding equal protection for their citizens... I honestly feel positive for the first time since New Jersey. I know there will be setbacks, but I am sitting thinking: "Man, is this really happening? Is the tide really turning?"

* The Supreme Court of Mexico stated that while not every state has to perform gay marriages, any that are performed in Mexico City are LEGAL and MUST BE RECOGNIZED. In response... three more states are now considering legalizing gay marriage.

* Countries where gay marriage may be coming: Nepal, Slovenia,

* Countries where it might be coming to a vote: Paraguay, Chile, Luxembourg, Finland, The United Kingdom

* Of course, we also can maybe look forward to California. The Governator and the California Attorney General have asked that Judge Walker discontinue his stay of his verdict and let the gays get a marrying.

Maybe we will overcome... imagine.
